Volunty is now atwork.

We are now atwork with the mission to support companies in comprehensively fostering employee engagement and creating a generational employee experience.

It all began in 2014 with a personal encounter. Our co-founder Marco was searching for something meaningful to do during his studies at the University of St. Gallen and decided to take part in a volunteering assignment. He met a 90-year-old lady and recognized how fulfilling volunteering can be. Together with our co-founder Philipp, he decided to start a non-profit association – Volunty.

We’re turning the page to the next chapter: Volunty is now atwork.

With the mission to support companies in comprehensively fostering employee engagement and creating a generational employee experience, our solution comprises three modules: pulse, active and connect. These are based on innovative employee surveys as pulse checks, the professional management of all internal employee activities such as corporate volunteering, sports and further education and a communication app for employees and companies.

Why we are atwork.

Our English name underlines our intention of reaching international companies. The ending of our new website stands for “artificial intelligence”, representing its usage in our software, in particular in our module pulse.  Located in Switzerland, Germany and the US, we are roughly 20 employees and target large companies and SMEs in the DACH region. To date, we support more than 50 large companies in measuring and promoting their employee engagement.

Marco’s formative encounter in 2014 will continue to drive our work in the future. Our name change represents the expansion of our focus from corporate volunteering to employee engagement and a significant enhancement of our software.

What got us here

In the initial years, our primary goal was to promote volunteering at educational institutions and to implement an online platform to connect people in need with students. We became the first corporate volunteering provider in Switzerland. We identified the interests and needs of employees and companies and incorporated them into a customized corporate volunteering program. The customized programs were supported by our software for communication, coordination and reporting of all activities, as well as access to hundreds of our partner organizations of local charities, and the organization of memorable activities.

Since 2019, we have worked together with the Zurich University of Applied Sciences (ZHAW) on the topic of employee engagement. We wanted to understand employee engagement in a scientifically based manner and create a software solution that accurately measures the engagement in companies and comprehensively fosters it through targeted measures.

What’s next?

The job market will undergo fundamental changes. Starting next year, millennials (born 1980 to 1994) and gen Z (1995 to 2010) will be the majority on the Swiss job market, bringing specific needs, interests and aspirations to the workplace. In a society of endless options, where employees change their jobs more frequently, employee engagement is more important than ever for companies.

We are the first provider to defined employee engagement not as the result of a single assessment and survey, but as a full life cycle: employee engagement must be frequently measured in scientifically based surveys, requires targeted action strategies and the evaluation of their effectiveness. This innovative approach is acknowledged by Innosuisse, the Swiss Innovation Agency, and was rewarded with six-figure grants for further research and work in the field of employee engagement. We’ll prepare you for the future – atwork.
